The Trade House Magazine August 2018 – Halfway Update

I am pleased to provide a half way update for the August 201 edition of The Trade House Magazine. After 2 weeks of publication I am pleased to announce a current total of 3,900 unique readers.

August should be a very quiet month and I a delighted that the figures are already strong and that enquiry levels are also strong.

I have a maximum of 6 pages available for advertising and content in the September 2018 edition. The deadline for all copy is 24th August.

You can view an interactive version of the magazine below.

Retirement – The Four Month Update

So today marks four months to the day that I abruptly retired on health grounds. I had no choice really. A strong combination of medical advice and `er indoors “advice” left me in no doubt that after heart failure I could not not go back 60 hours+ a week, the stress of my work and the constant travelling.

A friend of mine said at the time “Court, the thought of you with too much time on your hands is, frankly, very, very scary!”

Truth be told doing nothing all week was not going to work very well and I felt it after a month. I held on to two business interests (Virtual Office and Weekly Deals). I sold out of or exited everything else.

Truth be told, I got too bored too quickly. I still cannot abide daytime TV unless its Bloomberg. With Bloomberg once you have watched the pre-market-open slot you have seen nearly everything that will be on for the rest of the day! I also tired too quickly. There was however no going back to the old lifestyle.

I decided that Weekly Deals needed to be restructured and I changed it to monthly publishing schedule and also gave it a rebrand. This seems to be working really well and I am enjoying building a new venture, whilst only working 20-25 hours a week tops. I am really enjoying the work that goes into creating a publication such as this and I am pleased that this work is keeping me somewhat active in a matter that is unlikely to cause a health issue. My medical consultants were supportive of this when I last saw them nearly a fortnight ago. I have no intention of going over the 25 hour cap. The possible health ramifications are soooo not worth it. I even got back back in to ding  some coding a week or two back. It was a small job (an hour or so) on one of my internal apps to make it work again after it broke! I had not written or debugged code in so long that it was nice to get back to it for a change of scenery. Eagle eyed readers will note a few tweaks to this website too.

I have managed to stay a non smoker after smoking 1-2 packs a day for over 20 years. The wheelchair hasn’t reappeared since my last update and very surprisingly since my last update I have not managed to break anything else. I was most surprised and somewhat annoyed to find out some of my medication is banned in some countries and even more angered to find out how difficult it is to work out what medication is banned in which countries.

Any way, that is all for now folks. I will be back in a month or two with another update.

The Weekly Deals Free Sheet Issue

It is with regret that I announce that there will be no issue of The Weekly Deals Free Sheet For tomorrow 08/05/2018. This is to allow some elements of the magazine to be reconfigured in the light of The Weekly Deals Free Sheet being amalgamated into The Trade House. These actions will allow for a much better reader experience.

The next issue will be available on Tuesday 15th May at 14:00. The advertising deadline is 11/05/2018 at 18:00

In the meantime you can join 1841 unique readers by downloading an issue here: [Download not found]

Early May 2018 Update

Since my last update in early April a lot has gone on.

Here are some highlights:

  • VirtualOffice and PersonalCloud products have been brought back after an aborted sale.
  • I am on the look out for a new non executive directorship or trusteeship to take on.
  • I have managed to sell, divest or close many of my business interests.
  • I am out of the wheelchair for the time being but this might change. The road to recovery is a slow one.
  • I am now more than 50% deaf 🙁
  • I am bringing back The Tradehouse and a new version should be available over the summer. This will most likely be integrated into this site.
  • More than 400 new products have been added to my shop.
  • Readership of The Weekly Deals Free Sheet is now consistently at over 1500 unique readers each week.
  • Since its relaunch last year, The Weekly Deals Free Sheet has enjoyed a consistent weekly straight line growth of 12%.
  • This website and the shop had over 14,000 visitors – a figure I am very pleased about. I would like to thank all website visitors for taking the time to visit.
  • This website will be getting a small revamp over the summer.
  • I am still mostly retired and I am very pleased to say that I am generally very happy in my retirement 😀 I do struggle do fill a week with activity but maybe that is  very good thing.
  • I will be be attending The Business Show at London Excel later this month. You can take the man away from business but you cannot take business away from the man!! This visit will be much more genteel than other visits to the show but I will have time for 1-2-1 meetings and to spend time with old colleagues, friends and adversaries who will be in attendance at the show.

Thank you for reading.

Update:: VirtualOffice and PersonalCloud

Most VirtualOffice and PersonalCloud customers will be aware but this post is formal notice that I eventually I did not sell these product lines as the buyers failed to complete the purchase.

Emergency work  is taking place to reverse enabling work for the sale and all customer data is safe and secure.

I look forward to working with customers old and new of both product lines going forward. Some new products will be added shortly.

Update 13/04/2018

So what has been happening recently? Quite a lot so here are some highlights.

I spent over 6 weeks in hospital recently. I now have a pacemaker fitted and use a wheelchair, which I have already managed to crash! On this note my retirement from active business has been publicised on this site extensively. I am delighted to announce that I am successfully winding up all of my business interests with the exception of The Weekly Deals Free Sheet. I am keeping this on to prevent me getting too bored.

I have managed to give up smoking and on one occasion managed to break a car manufacturers configuration engine. It would only show £###,### instead of a price of over £100,000!

On the whole retirement is going well. In addition to this last month (March 2018) I achieved 16.679 visitors to this website. I am very pleased with these results. Weekly Deals still gets excellent readership

This is a short update and a further update with more exciting news should be available in the next 4-6 weeks.
