Following on from this update I must now announce my full-time retirement with effect from 31/12/2020.
This is a post I had hoped I would not have to write.
As many readers know I have suffered with a number of big health issues since 2012. This was exacerbated in 2018 by a severe episode of Myocarditis from which I have never recovered. Given I can now barely walk 5 metres without help or getting out of breath, it has come to the time to stop. Things are getting too difficult. Tiredness is getting worse and it is getting harder to concentrate.
I tried retirement in 2018 but it did not work. I went back to work part-time and changed things around a few times to fit. After looking at things over the past few days after some changes have come to light I have come to one conclusion, This time I have no other option. I have to close down and retire.
I never thought I would be forced to retire in my mid-forties and I proudly resisted it the first time around. It’s certainly not a place I wish to be.
I am selling parts of the business.
I will keep this website and The Trade Club running and all of the content will be archived. You will see some changes to the site and it will be replaced with a slimmer version when some engineering pieces have been removed. With regards to the magazine, the latest issue will still be available. I will still pass Trade House Sentinel enquiries on.
The Trade House Lists will be posted to The Trade Club and then publicly.
I will still blog, vlog or podcast on a personal basis and I will still be updating this site and making the odd post on my social media accounts.
I would like to be able to say that this is temporary and that I will make a comeback to business in some way but this is so unlikely to happen. My health is now too far shot for that.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support of both me and The Trade House.
With best regards
